KNITTING NEWS - June 2008

Worldwide Knit in Public Day, Saturday 14 June 2008.

Please join us on Saturday 14 June 2008, anytime between 11:00 and 15:00 at the Costa Coffee  Shop on Princess Street, Knutsford - locally known as Top Street.  We plan to celebrate Worldwide Knit in Public Day by knitting hats for the Paul O' Grady "Hats for Africa" appeal.  We will be supplying the pattern for this hat.  It only needs one ball of DK weight yarn, please bring whatever you have available in your stash, and we will supplement that with yarn from our shop stash.  We want to support this project in their aim to donate  1 million hats to children in Africa, specifically newborn babies who need to keep warm.

NEW Knitting Workshop Programme

We are nearing the end of this season's  workshop programme.  The only ones left for now are Saturday 7th June, Entrelac in the morning and Socks in the afternoon, and the last one on 14th June for Lace Knitting.  We still have a few places left on these for any late comers, please email or phone us to make a booking.  The workshop programme, starting in September, will be on the website soon, please visit us again.

Free knitting advice clinic

You may not know that we have a very experienced knitter to provide knitting advice to our customers, free of charge.  If you get stuck on a project or need help choosing the next, just pop into the shop anytime between 11:00 and 16:00 on a Tuesday and Elizabeth will come to your rescue!

Knit gatherings

Every Thursday evening from 7 until 9pm, we get together for an informal Knit Gathering where we knit or crochet, drink tea or coffee, chat and knit. No booking or fee is required. Anybody interested can just arrive on the night, whether you are an experienced knitter, a complete novice or anything in between. It’s an ideal way to experience the joy of making something for yourself or someone you love, experiment with the stress reducing and therapeutic qualities of knitting, enjoy a relaxing evening out in the company of like minded people and be surrounded by beautiful and inspirational things while you’re at it.

By popular demand we have added a second weekly knit gathering to our weekly programme, on Tuesday mornings from 11:00 -13:00.

Knitting workshops

We run an ongoing series of knitting workshops with different themes and aimed at different skill levels. You'll find full details of what's coming up and how to book on the Knit Workshops page. 

• All workshops start at 10:00 and finish at 16:00
• The cost of £40 per workshop includes all teas and coffees and lunch at the Courtyard Restaurant around the corner from the shop.
• You will get 10% discount on all yarn purchased on the day of the workshop
• You will receive a full set of printed notes on all topics covered during the workshop
• The workshop fee is payable at the time of booking.  If you cancel your booking less than 2 weeks before the workshop, the fee can only be refunded if your place can be filled by another learner
• We limit the number of learners to a maximum of 7 per workshop which means you get individualised tuition if required
